Microsoft’s Project Natal to Cost $200

Several Swedish retailers have posted prices for Microsoft’s upcoming Project Natal. If the prices are real, they’re much higher than expected. The controller is listed for 1,499 SEK, or approximately 197 U.S. dollars. Even if we consider that prices for games and gaming equipment in Sweden are a bit higher than in the U.S., this is still quite expensive for a gadget that’s essentially a peripheral for the Xbox 360.

Update: Microsoft’s Xbox Director of Product Management Aaron Greenberg tweeted that “retailers are not yet aware of pricing details” and consequently “pre-order pricing is pure speculation.”
