Foxconn to ship 24 million iPhone 4G in 2010, says Digitimes Research
According to DigiTimes,Foxconn will ship 24 million units of Apple’s latest iPhone 4G with shipments starting in June, according to Digitimes senior analysts Ming-Chi Kuo citing sources from Taiwan-based component makers.
Foxconn will ship 4.5 million units in the first half and 19.5 million units for the rest of 2010. Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 4G on June 7, 2010 during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference.
The new device will have IPS (in-plane switching) panels with FFS (fringe-field switching) technology and a 960×640 resolution, Kuo said, noting that LG Display and Prime View International are the panel suppliers.
By incorporating FFS technology, which enables a wider viewing angle and clearer visual quality under in sunlight, Apple is aiming to improve the handset’s e-book reader features and promote its iBooks Store. HTC’s Hero smartphone has already adopted this technology.
To solve battery life issues, the new iPhone’s panel is 33% thinner than in previous iPhone versions to permit more space for larger battery modules supplied by Simplo Technology and Dynapack International Technology, Kuo said. Now all we can do it wait 22 days until Apples WWDC on June 7th.
